Learning about our five senses

“My three boys attended Winnipeg Montessori from 2013 when my oldest was 2.5 until my youngest “graduated” in 2019. What a fantastic place WMS was for our family! All three kids had at one point of another a single teacher, which was absolutely unparalleled continuity—but over our six years at WMS, every teacher became like a part of our family and we truly felt they all cared for each of our kids, regardless of which one was currently enrolled. You absolutely could not find a more warm, comfortable or safe environment for your little ones.”

“Both our sons attended the kindergarten program at WMS. When our oldest attended the program it was only offered as a half day program. To accommodate his eagerness to learn we enrolled him in both the Montessori program and the program at the elementary school he would be attending for Grade 1. We were really happy about that choice because Ms. Auryn was able to continue my son’s Montessori education with little interruption and without the delays inherent in starting a new school, such as learning new rules of the school, adapting to a large class and an even larger school, and all the basics of being in school which he had already learned in the preschool program at Montessori.

My oldest was and is very academically inclined and Ms. Auryn was able to continue to challenge him in his learning beyond the provincial kindergarten program without being bound by the public school curriculum. Ms Auryn would laugh at how our son “kept her on her toes”, but we were very appreciative of the extra mile she went to provide a stellar learning experience for him. Her warmth, her patience and her ability to understand and meet the particular needs of each student is so commendable.

Several years later, when our middle child attended the WMS kindergarten program, the program had expanded to a full day program. Although we chose to stay with the half day program, our son decided that he only wanted to attend the WMS kindergarten program instead of two different programs his older brother chosen. We wondered if not starting him at the new school would be an issue but it was no problem when he entered Grade 1. Whether he started in kindergarten or Grade 1 had no bearing on his ability to socialize with new kids. In fact the extra year of maturity probably contributed to an easier transition to a bigger school.

Once again, my husband and I were so impressed with Ms. Auryn’s kindergarten program. The class was small which gave my son many more opportunities for one-on-one learning. My middle son really flourished with the opportunities to explore his own interests and to be subtly challenged by the WMS program without him even realizing he was learning!

As the saying goes, all you really need to know you learned in kindergarten. I think the WMS kindergarten program not only taught my kids the fundamentals of life it also set them up for a lifetime of loving to learn. There is nothing more rewarding then seeing your children’s minds open up through the possibility of learning. As my husband and I get ready to enroll our third child into the preschool program for next Fall we can’t wait for her to have the same amazing experiences at WMS as her two older brothers did.”

“We are so pleased with the head start that our daughter Lainey benefitted from, by attending WMS's kindergarten program. Going into grade one, she was equipped with the foundational scholastic and social skills that prepared her for a successful experience going into elementary school, making new friends and exceeding grade-level expectations. We appreciated the child-led learning style with caring teachers that allowed her to expand her skills in her preferred learning activities while working on developmental skills that were essential to her academic readiness for grade one. Thank you, WMS!”

“The Kindergarten Program at Winnipeg Montessori School created an exceptionally caring and interesting learning environment for our son.

Rising to the challenges of Covid-19, the very capable and kind teachers made not only a safe environment for the children, but also a place where they could continue to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.”

“I highly recommend Winnipeg Montessori’s Kindergarten program.

I speak from the experience and perspective of being a teacher myself, having a Masters in Psychology and having spent many years in the classroom and visiting many preschool programs across the province.

The program and teaching offered by Winnipeg Montessori is exceptional.  The opportunity to be in a smaller group and receive much more individualized attention offers opportunity to maximize your child’s potential, setting them up for success in the rest of their academic career.  If there is anything you want to put careful consideration into, it is an enriched and excellent preschool or kindergarten experience that will provide the foundation for the rest of their learning, help them build their own confidence in their social and learning skills and an opportunity to be a leader as being one of the older children in the school.

As opposed to the experience of being the little ones in a big school, the multi age model in Montessori School gives children the opportunity to build their leadership and social skills, enhancing their confidence that will stay with them for the rest of their schooling career.

The skilled and individuated teaching by Auryn is exceptional.  She has a wealth of experience and is masterful at engaging children in rich learning experiences perfect for them and their level.  At the same time, she makes deep connections and provides a safe relationship and environment in which children can excel in their learning.  My ten year old and her friend still talk about all their Montessori teachers, including Auryn.  She clearly loves her students and is tremendously skilled at bringing out the best in them.

Thanks to the opportunity to have been in the Winnipeg Montessori Kindergarten programs, my children have done excellent in school, and are exceptional readers.  They still have fond memories of the Kindergarten program at Montessori.

I highly recommend you consider this program for your child.  It is a great investment in your child’s happiness, joy, and learning.”

“Winnipeg Montessori School is a special place to us! We love the small group sizes, supportive teachers, and nurturing environment. It’s also nice to have so many options - full time or part time - for both preschool and kindergarten! Our kids have made many great friends and memories here!”
